Get a unique chance to see your 2D work turn into 3D! After the big success of our first character Call-Out, we're doing it again, this time with any 2D illustration. We love seeing our students’ 2D illustrations transform into 3D, and we want to help you with a new course explaining new techniques. Welcome to our… Second Call-Out!

After the big success of our first character Call-Out, we're doing it again, this time with any 2D illustration.

We love seeing our students’ 2D illustrations transform into 3D, and we want to help you with a new course explaining new techniques.

Welcome to our… Second Call-Out!

Do you have a 2D character, 2D still life or 2D landscape that you’d like to see created in 3D by us? Share it in our Patata School Community under the topic Illos Call-Out for the chance to see this happen.

As an example, this is the result we got from Rose Caille's 2D illustration.

We love showing our process and we always share the 2D sketches we create before jumping into three dimensions. But let’s take this one step further and see what’s really behind the translation, sharing our tips and tricks with all our students. We will be using Blender and Grease Pencil and explaining the entire process in a new course!

This illo by Nathalia Angely Escalona Perez was transformed into 3D using Blender and Grease Pencil.

We’ll go in depth analysing the 2D character and the best tools to bring it into 3D. It’s not a direct translation, but is about keeping the spirit of the drawing.

And that’s what we’ll get to the bottom of in a detailed course using student submissions, sharing our tips and tricks for translating 2D to 3D successfully.

Sound interesting? Send us your 2D illustration today! We love bringing characters to life and can’t wait to share the process of doing so with our Patata School members.

By submitting your 2D character, you agree for it to be used as a course in Patata School and for your submitted image(s) to be shown at Patata School.

Deadline for submission: 15th June 2024
